Sony Corp Announces Playstation Experience Event

The next Playstation event is slated for December this year. Fans can expect some major announcements and upcoming game previews

It is official now— Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE) has announced that their exclusive Playstation event will continue tradition this year. The Playstation Experience event will be held on December 5 and 6 in San Francisco.

The event focuses exclusively on Playstation and brings all kinds of festivities for the fans in a two-day community event.

So what can we expect from the event? For starters, you get to experience all the upcoming Playstation games on the show floor and expect some major announcements. Last year at the event, Sony announced Street Fighter V for Playstation 4 and PC, Final Fantasy VII, and premiered gameplay footage for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, including a confirmation from Cory Barlog, Creative Director at Santa Monica Studios, that the next installment in the highly popular God of War series is in development. This gives us plenty of reason to be excited about the event and hope for some big announcements.

Apparently, Sony has acknowledged fan feedback on ticket prices and has announced that people who register before September 20 will get a discounted price of $60 for a two-day pass. However, it will go for $75 after the said date, with one-day passes priced at $45 for Saturday, and $40 for Sunday.

The passes are limited, so grab them while you can. Sony recommends registering for the event with your Playstation Network ID, for reasons to be unveiled at the event. The Capcom Cup will be also be held for die-hard Street Fighter fans at the event. The event will be open to all attendees on the second day, December 6. The Capcom Cup will have 32 teams competing against each other for the title of “Street Fighter World Champion” with a prize money of $250,000! Certainly a hefty sum for those brave enough to fight for it.

A premium Capcom Cup package will be available for those looking for the ultimate experience. It will be priced at $75 and will give access to the premium front area seating during the event, along with a Capcom goody bag, and exclusive access to the Capcom Cup after-party.

Sony was absent from Gamescom this year but had a comparatively lackluster showing at E3 2015. Moreover, it has no AAA exclusive for Fall 2015, it stands to reason that Sony might be packing the event with some major game announcements that will further extend its game portfolio for 2016 and beyond. It surely leaves us in anticipation of the event.

So, what are you eager to see at the event? What game announcements are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments!
