Xbox Live Gold's September free games include Tomb Raider on Xbox One, Crysis 3

September's Xbox Games With Gold lineup consists of two heavy hitters and two lesser-known titles, with Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Crysis 3 leading the pack, Microsoft announced today.

Crescent Moon Games' The Deer God, a side-scrolling platformer with 3D pixel art, will be available free all month long on Xbox One. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, United Front Games' 2014 re-release of Crystal Dynamics' 2013 action game, will also be free for a full month to Xbox One owners, but from Sept. 16 through Oct. 15. It's a great way to catch up on Lara Croft's origin story before the Nov. 10 release of Rise of the Tomb Raider.

On Xbox 360, Xbox Live Gold subscribers will be able to get two different games for free during the month of September, as usual. Battlestations: Pacific, a World War II strategy game from Eidos Hungary, will be in the spotlight from Sept. 1-15. Crytek's New York-based shooter, Crysis 3, will be free from Sept. 16-30.

Microsoft announced during Gamescom 2015 earlier this month that all future Xbox 360 Games With Gold titles would be playable on Xbox One via backward compatibility.
