Spoiler: Master Chief won’t take his helmet off in Halo 5: Guardians

One of the most iconic characters ever to grace the Xbox platform is Halo’s Master Chief. The Spartan Elite has been the main protagonist of one of the most popular video game series of recent memory. Throughout every game he has donned a stylish helmet (which you can pre order a motorcycle helmet replica of by the way). The skilled few who completed Halo 4 on Legendary got to see his helmet removed but the scene only revealed his eyes while closed. For the most part, his headgear has prevented us from seeing his face.

Unfortunately for fans hoping to fully see the face of the hero, they won’t have the chance in Halo 5: Guardians. In aninterview with Gamerant, the creative director of Halo 5, Tim Longo was asked if Master Chief was going to take his helmet off. He stated “I actually don’t even know if I can talk about that… He doesn’t take his helmet off.”

If there was going to be a Halo game in which Master Chief took his helmet off, Halo 5: Guardians would have been a solid candidate. With a protagonist/antagonist setup between Master Chief and Spartan Locke being featured as the core of the game, Master Chief being unmasked could have fit into the plot nicely.
