Rainbow Six Siege Delayed Until December

Ubisoft’s eagerly anticipated squad-based shooter Rainbow Six: Siege has been delayed, and will now launch on December 1st. The latest Tom Clancy game from Ubisoft was originally scheduled to release on October 13th.

The French publisher issued an update on the matter, revealing Rainbow Six Siege had been pushed back based upon feedback it had received from internal tests. The extra time will go towards making improvements to the co-operative experience across all games modes, along with weapon and gadget balancing, and menu and interface navigation.

The previously announced closed beta for Rainbow Six Siege will still be going ahead. It will commence on the same date as planned, September 24th, 2015. Feedback from the beta will then have enough time to be factored into the final game in December.

“The additional time will allow us to further test things like infrastructure and matchmaking. That extra testing and added polish will make for a higher-quality experience at launch,” said Ubisoft.

“We understand that many of you are excited to get your hands on the final game, but as gamers ourselves we know that quality comes first and we are committed to delivering the best game possible.”

For now then, your first opportunity to play Rainbow Six Siege will be as part of the September beta, before the final game launches on December 1st, for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

It’s difficult to know just how this will pan out for Ubisoft during a packed holiday period. It would have been great for R6: Siege to beat Star Wars Battlefront and Call of Duty: Black Ops III to the punch, but both of those gaming titans will get huge headstarts on Ubisoft’s shooter.
