Usually when it comes to Activision games in Japan Region, it is done by Square Enix (OTCMKTS:SQNXF), but this time around, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia has taken the lead and will be bringing Call of Duty games to Japan for PS3 and PS4 instead of other publishers. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has taken matters into its own hands as will also be releasing games for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One in direct collaboration with Activision for the Japan region.
Before this, Square Enix had been in charge of publishing games for Japan and unlike Bungie’s Destiny, which has announced its exclusivity in Japan, Call of Duty has not announced any such exclusivity, and has to rely on publishers.
Sony will release Call of Duty for Japan on November 6, for the PS4; no announcement has been made about a release date for the PS3 version. Sony will also be releasing versions with both Japanese and English subtitles along with their dubs on a single disc.
The PS4 version of the game will cost around 7,900 yen excluding taxes for the digital as well as the retail version. There will also be a special digital edition for the PS4 version of the game and it will be priced at 11,000 yen. However, the Xbox One version will only come in a standard edition at 7,900 yen.
Activision Blizzard is also working on a Call of Duty: Black Ops III beta, set to release on August 19, 2015 and will be playable till August 23.
Call of Duty Black Ops III will release for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3 and Windows PC.
