[Update] Sony Working To Re-enable Until Dawn Twitch Stream Archives Coming From PlayStation 4
Update: Sony has offered a statement regarding the inability to archive twitch streams of Until Dawn broadcasted from PlayStation 4s.
Sony says Until Dawn's Twitch archiving was deactivated by mistake and should not be an issue soon. Here's the statement from Sony:
The Witcher 3 sold over 6 million units in less than two months
Polish studio CD Projekt RED has been enjoying bigger and bigger success with each new Witcher game, and now the Warsaw-based game developer has revealed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sold over 6 million units within the first six weeks of its release alone.
“One could think we have six million reasons to be happy and that’s it,” CD Projekt CEO Adam Badowski wrote in an open letter to fans. “We do, but that number is also a big responsibility and I want everyone to know that we, as a studio, realize that. For us, all your high praise, all the positive reviews, are also an obligation — we’ve made a really good game but there’s still a long road ahead of us.”
“RED is full of artists, wild dreamers and people crazy about what they do (and sometimes just plain crazy),” he continued. “We lose sleep over that particular colour the sun has when it sets over Velen, and argue over arranging the furniture in a house the majority of gamers will probably never see. We’re not the kind of people who are easily satisfied and we always strive for more. I’d like you to know that.”
CD Projekt’s success is a sign of the changing landscape of game development, where great new games are starting to pop up in expected places. In fact, several of today’s most successful game companies cannot be found in the U.S. or Japan anymore, but rather in Europe. For example, Sweden is home to both Minecraft developer Mojang AB, which was purchased by Microsoft for $2.5 billion, and Clash of Clans creator Supercell, which brought in over $1.7 billion in revenue last year, is located in Finland.
AMD Reveals Radeon R9 Nano And Its Not Cheap - 649 USD RRP
AMD has officially revealed the Radeon R9 Nano in all its tiny glory. The mini-ITX graphics card is packing some incredible hardware into its short length, but it’s certainly not going to be easy on your wallet. After months of rumours and speculation, AMD has announced the R9 Nano will be retailing for an eye-watering $649. This is the same price as the full fat Radeon R9 Fury X, and $100 more expensive than the air-cooled Radeon R9 Fury.
Essentially, AMD is charging the same price as the Fury X for a product that delivers lesser performance. The thinking behind it is that its small size makes it a unique proposition. There’s a few mini-ITX GTX 970’s from various graphics card manufacturers out there, but nothing with the level of performance the R9 Nano offers.
As we knew already, R9 Nano comes packing the full Fiji core seen on the Fury X. This means 4096 shaders, 64 compute units, 256 TMUs and 64 ROPs, joined by 4GB of HBM on a massive 4096-bit memory interface. Other than size the only tangible difference is in clock speed. The R9 Fury X is clocked at 1050 MHz, while the R9 Nano has a variable clock rate up to 1000 MHz. Essentially, however, the R9 Fury is a fully enabled Fiji GPU.
In comparison to AMD’s previous flagship, the Radeon R9 290X, you can expect a 30 per cent boost in performance. This has all been achieved despite a drop down to just 175W TDP, 100W less than the 275W consumed by the Fury X.
Performance benchmarks released by AMD seem great so far, though obviously they have to be taken with a pinch of salt. Up against the GTX 970 mITX, the R9 Nano gives it the runaround. Shadow of Mordor in particular sees huge gains on the tiny card, which is no doubt due to the high bandwidth memory on offer. AMD tout a 30% lead in performance over the GTX 970, but it comes at double the cost.
The performance of the card and its size is all well and and good then, but it’s the price that’s going to prove the most controversial. Many felt this was a huge opportunity for AMD to land a body blow on Nvidia with a great price to performance GPU, but AMD is undoubtedly targeting the ultra-enthusiast tier with this. At $649 the R9 Nano is the same price as the Fury X and the GTX 980 Ti, both cards which can comfortably exceed its performance at 4K resolution.
For mini-ITX builds this could well be a beast of a card, but in truth there are plenty of mITX cases out there which can house much larger graphics cards. For those after premium small form factor builds it could be a winner, but it’s never going to offer the best bang for your buck.]
Are you think of picking an R9 Nano up? Or is it a little too expensive for your tastes? Let us know what you make of AMD's latest!
Final Specs And First Performance Benchmarks Of AMD Radeon R9 Nano Revealed
AMD is preparing its tiny Radeon R9 Nano for release very soon, so the first concrete details are surfacing for the mini-ITX graphics card. The smallest member of the AMD Radeon Fury family, the R9 Fury will be the most powerful graphics card designed for mini-ITX in existence, with early benchmarks indicating performance fairly comparable to the fully fledged R9 Fury X.
On the specifications side of things, the Radeon R9 Nano comes loaded with a Fiji GPU, packing 4096 stream processors on 64 compute units, 256 TMUs, 64 ROPS, and 4GB of High Bandwidth Memory clocked at 1GHz, all set in on a mammoth 4096-bit memory interface. If you needed any confirmation of the performance of this diminutive card, the Radeon R9 Nano has compute performance of 8.19 TFLOPS, just shy of the 8.6 TFLOPS for the Fury X.
Aside from the size, perhaps what’s most impressive about the R9 Nano is that it actually runs at 100W less than the Radeon R9 Fury X, consuming just 175W through a single 8-pin power connector. This is some impressive performance efficiency, somewhere in the region of double the performance per watt of AMD’s previous flagship, the Radeon R9 290X.
One of the major reasons AMD has managed to squeeze so much performance into something so small is the use of HBM. The 4GB of High Bandwidth Memory has a fair smaller footprint than the equivalent GDDR5 memory. While it operates at a far lower clock rate, the massive 4096-bit memory interface allows it to operate at 512 GB/s bandwidth.
Over to the performance side of things and a leaked chart gives us a good idea of where we can expect the R9 Nano to slot in. This is reportedly benchmark results from Far Cry 4 ran at 4K resolution, with the R9 Nano averaging about 33 frames per second. This puts it marginally above the R9 290X and around 8 or 9 frames per second behind the Fury X.
Where the Radeon R9 Nano makes the biggest ground is in the performance per watt, where it absolutely annihilates both the Fury X and the R9 290X, almost doubling the figures of the latter. Lower power consumption would be a big win for AMD, who have struggled up against the efficiency of Nvidia's Maxwell of late. Lower TDP means lower temperatures, making the R9 Nano a tempting purchase for smaller builds.
The final part of the puzzle now is the pricing. We're expecting a premium on the smaller component, but if AMD can get this right then this graphics card could be an absolute winner for the enthusiast market.
The embargo for these documents is up tomorrow, so look out for plenty more info on the Radeon R9 Nano then, when AMD will hopefully be announcing launch details.

WE DIG INTO THE FIVE AUTOMOTIVE ICONS THAT CALL VENTURA BAY THEIR HOME
With the November 3rd release date fast approaching, it's time we take a closer look at just who will be guiding you on your journey through the streets of Ventura Bay. Of course, this being the tough world of Need for Speed, you're going to need guidance from the very best and most influential people in the world of car culture.
Let's talk speed. Although no single person can be credited with the rise in popularity of the air-cooled Porsche, the enigmatic 911 fanatic Magnus Walker has definitely played his part. His rapid rise in popularity around the globe is intrinsically linked with his devotion to the 911 and his relentless pursuit of creating his ultimate example.
One of the most recognisable characters in the automotive world, not just for the dreadlocks and majestic beard, but the accompanying roar of a turbocharged flat-six cylinder howling through the open exhausts of a Porsche “Widowmaker” 930 Turbo.
Magnus may collect and modify classic Porsches, but he’s never been afraid to get out and push them as far as he can on the tough city streets and canyon roads of Los Angeles.
In fact, this is what Magnus lives for and why his armoury of 911s exists in the first place. His mantra of 'get out and drive' should be all the encouragement you need to carve your own path in Ventura Bay.
Let's talk style. Ken Block might just be the undisputed king of the internet and has quickly become one of the most recognisable faces and names in the automotive game. Years of driving in top-tier rally, X-Games competitions and his famous Gymkhana videos watched by hundreds of millions of people around the world have honed his skills behind the wheel.
His experience, garnered from competing in a variety of action sports has allowed him to develop a distinct and immediately recognisable driving style across a number of different cars and platforms.
From World Rally cars to the custom built Hoonicorn, Ken is more than adept at slaying tyres in some of the most creative ways possible.
Few, if any, can match his ability to throw a flame-belching car sideways with such incredible precision. In a realm where an inch can mean the difference between worldwide fame or global ridicule, Block rules the streets.
Let's talk build. Akira Nakai is a true automotive artist, an artisan builder who uses feel, emotion and nuance to build some of the world’s wildest Porsches.
Based out of a small shop in the back blocks of rural Chiba, near Tokyo, Nakai-san has taken his long-running Rauh Welt Begriff brand of Porsche tuning to the world, and now spends much of his time travelling across the globe, building super-aggressive cars for an almost cult-like following of customers.
For Nakai-san, it's not just a case of shaping metal and composites. He puts a small part of himself into every one of his creations. It's why each of his cars carry their own name, as no two are alike.
Nakai-san’s ability to build incredibly angry cars with soul have become the stuff of pure legend. Each car is built both with style and performance in consideration. His masterpieces are built to be driven, not just as static objects to be admired. He imposes no limits upon himself and focuses on building within the present moment. He lives in the now.
Let's talk crew. Since 2007, one name has been synonymous with the underground street drifting scene in Chicago; Risky Devil.
Fish, AJ, Cook, Stevo and T2 are drivers of some of the most badass, tyre-incinerating and envy-inducing street sliders found anywhere, this crew has long been running the midnight streets in this part of the world.
The only thing that surpasses their passion for cars and hard driving, is their loyalty and unwavering trust between each other. The late nights and early mornings spent laying rubber on Chicago's subterranean road network has forged an unbreakable bond between these brothers-in-arms.
Always coating their machines in a violent shade of blood red or crisp white, Risky Devil has constantly pushed the boundaries to the absolute limit in search of perfect form, both when it comes to driving and their VIP-inspired, spark-throwing style.
Individually, each of the Risky Devils is a formidable ally. But when they're together, there's no other crew who can come within touching distance of them. These are the people you want in your corner.
Let's talk outlaw. Little is known about the real Shinichi Morohoshi, a man with one foot in normal society and one in the underworld. He is a man who embraces his own notoriety.
Usually found prowling Tokyo’s expressways late at night in any one of his heavily modified and brightly coloured Lamborghinis, Morohoshi-san is a walking contradiction, an oxymoron caught between his love of the fastest, the loudest and the flashiest street cars in existence and a desire to keep who and what he is, to himself.
He describes himself as a delinquent. He says he is this because he never likes being told what to do. More importantly, he will never be beaten. By anyone. It's this attitude and self belief that has forced him to fight all of his life and why he is who he is.
He has earned his reputation as an Underground Hero by doing things his own way and carving his own route in life.
It won't be long before you have the opportunity to interact with these titans of the automotive world. You should heed their advice as their experiences and expertise are second to none in their respective fields. It's up to you to listen and drive hard if you want to make your own path and establish your own legacy.

YouTube Gaming launch poses challenge to Twitch
YouTube quietly launched its spin-off platform for video gamers on Wednesday evening.
YouTube Gaming is a dedicated app and website focusing exclusively on gaming content, with a greater emphasis on live steams.
The video sharing giant told the BBC it wanted tackle a "fragmented" experience for the gaming genre.
One expert said YouTube was "fighting back" against rivals such as Twitch and Daily Motion.
Billions of hoursImage captionThe new platform curates playlists based on a chosen game
Gaming videos are a big draw for YouTube and the company said its visitors spent billions of hours watching them every month. YouTube's most-followed star Felix Kjellberg, known as PewDiePie, is a gamer too.
"We wanted to create a one-stop shop for all gaming content," YouTube's head of gaming Ryan Wyatt told the BBC.
"At the moment there is a fragmented experience. People go to different places for live content, and YouTube for video on demand.
"We have amazing gamers that don't live stream yet. Now they have that opportunity."
CompetitionImage captionRival Twitch already curates playlists by game
YouTube has been facing competition from services such as Amazon-owned Twitch, which has become the go-to platform for gamers who want to broadcast live.
Hundreds of thousands of people visit Twitch daily to watch live steams of other people playing video games.
YouTube said it had redeveloped its live streaming function for its gaming app, but confirmed that live broadcasts would be subject to its standard copyright checks.
The company's Content ID system will terminate broadcasts if "third-party content" such as music is detected, a feature absent on Twitch.
"There is tension that has arisen over copyright claims on YouTube," said Steve Bailey, games analyst at IHS Technology.
"But some game developers see YouTube as a positive PR opportunity and embrace it. Those that have been very defensive have received bad press."
DiscoverabilityImage captionPewDiePie has become famous worldwide for his gaming videos
"We're not treating gaming any differently on YouTube. The app is a lens for gaming content, the key thing is discoverability," said YouTube's Mr Wyatt.
"This is a way to focus on gaming videos, aggregate them, but YouTube doesn't change. You can still watch gaming videos on YouTube."
Mr Wyatt said the new live streaming platform could have wider uses in the future.
"We created a live platform that will benefit all of YouTube," he said. "I can picture sports, beauty tutorials, live cooking streams."
Gaming is not the first topic to get a specialist offering from YouTube. The site is trialling a music service called Music Key, and has also launched a curated app for children in the US.
"Gaming is a specialist topic but YouTube is a generalist outlet," he said. "Establishing a new platform means it can skew the features to better suit gamers," said Mr Bailey.
"Competitors such as Daily Motion and Twitch will continue to emerge and YouTube has to keep up."

Ezio’s voice-acting in Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China sucked, so one fan fixed it
Ubisoft did not hire Ezio Auditore’s original voice actor to reprise his role in Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China. Fans usually just post some angry comments online and move on. But not this fan.
Assassin’s Creed fan Loomer was not happy to learn that the voice of Roger Craig Smith, the original voice actor for Ezio Auditore, was missing from Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China. Loomer however deiced to fix it, by asking the veteran actor to redo the lines.
Smith agreed and they both made a YouTube video to replace the one in-game. Loomer told Kotaku that he got Ubisoft’s blessing. “I basically put together a list and video compilation of all of Ezio’s lines in AC: Chronicles China (about 33 lines total) and sent it to Roger,” he said.
“He then recorded his take on the lines (I assume from his home studio) and emailed me the sound files. We did a couple retakes on some of the lines (Ubisoft has changed how Shao Jun’s name is pronounced over the years) but other than that, that was pretty much it.”
What’s more, as you’re about to watch, Loomer made sure the old voice stays cannon and didn’t just replace it. “I threw in the Erudito aspect (which Ubisoft used in AC: Liberation to show you the ‘real’ version of cutscenes) because I love the idea that this crappy fake Ezio voice is canon, it’s just Abstergo messing things up. After all, we know from Assassin-controlled Animi how Ezio’s voice really sounded.”
You can listen to some of Smith’s work in the video below.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive just had its most watched tourney ever
The most-watched Counter-Strike tournament took place over the weekend.
ESL One Cologne 2015 took place over the weekend. The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event was the most watched ever for the game, attracting 27 million unique viewers on Twitch.
The final match on Sunday between Fnatic and EnVyUs was played on the Cobblestone map and ended 16-7 in the former’s favour, leading the Swedish team to the win.
According to the ESl, the stream peaked at 1.3 million concurrent users, a 30% increase from the last event held in March. As for in-person attendance, the LANXESS arena hosted over 11,000 visitors per day.
This was also the first event where the ESL held its randomised drug tests, which all came out negative.
Thanks, IGN.
GOG Galaxy lets you roll back broken or unwanted updates
The latest version of gaming platform GOG Galaxy now supports patch and update rollbacks, letting you quickly restore a game to a previous version. Rollbacks were originally touted by the company as an DRM-free, anti-Steam feature, letting you skip an update if you hated it. "We know that patches can occasionally break a game or affect your mods," said tech VP Piotr Karwowski. GOG Galaxy has other ways you can avoid being locked down, like an opt-out for automatic updates and the ability buy games straight from its storesans the platform. Other game clients, including Steam, generally require such updates, abone of contention for some players.
The main drawback to GOG is a dearth of the latest games, though it does have fairly recent, popular titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The company describes the Galaxy client as "fully optional," though you'll miss things like multiplayer, achievements and chat if you don't use it. Along with rollbacks, the new version brings download pausing, extra installation options, improved friend searching, more speed and an updated UI. It's now available to anybody in the preview program (you can enroll just by selecting the "receive preview updates" option), and will roll out to everybody else a bit later.
YouTube Gaming aims to be the most popular streaming site in town
YouTube is already the web's most popular video site, but with the launch of YouTube Gaming across iOS, Android and desktops on August 26th, it aims to claim another title: most popular streaming site. YouTube Gaming bets big on live-streamed and archived gaming videos, with separate pages for more than 25,000 games. Users also get a customized feed of the gaming channels they follow, complete with notifications when each channel is live. All of this means YouTube Gaming is going head-to-head with Twitch, a site that Amazon bought for nearly $1 billion last year, following murmurs that YouTube's parent company, Google, was interested in the same purchase.
YouTube Gaming
Overall, YouTube Gaming's layout is sleek. Live streams are the meat of the new section and they dominate the homepage. YouTube Gaming pulls a live feed from a channel or game that you follow and plays it right at the top of the site (muted, thankfully). Scroll down and videos line the rest of the page, separated into trending, featured, suggested and popular sections, to name a few. Subscribed channels line the right side in a transparent strip, with live channels at the top and marked with a red dot. The left side offers game pages, with those you follow at the top, proceeded by trending and featured titles.
Individual game pages are a completely new feature for YouTube, allowing users to scroll through live, followed, popular and Let's Play videos featuring their favorite titles. Channel pages get a revamp on YouTube Gaming as well, displaying all archived and live videos from a specific streamer, separated into customizable sections.
One YouTuber, HikePlays, helped shape the new Gaming section by offering suggestions to the team from a streamer's point of view. He's a veteran in the live YouTube business, streaming and archiving his videos for hordes of gaming fans since October 2013. "I was streaming on YouTube before people knew there was streaming on YouTube," as he puts it. He now has 1.5 million subscribers.
"There's a certain taboo that comes with being a gamer as an entertainer."
- Hike, YouTube streamer
He notes one particularly interesting piece of information about streaming games on YouTube: Just 10 to 20 percent of his views actually come from the live show. The bulk of his views come from on-demand videos, and this is one reason Hike likes all of his content to be in a singular, easily clickable place. Twitch, by contrast, emphasizes live streaming over archived videos -- and its SVP of Marketing Matthew DiPietro has something to say about YouTube Gaming:
"The opportunity in gaming video is enormous, and others have clearly taken notice. We're proud of what we've accomplished in the last four years, but our eyes are on the future. We are focused on building upon the foundation we've laid with the Twitch community, and incorporating the next-generation features the community has asked for. We are dedicated to being the best social, global, multi-screen video platform for gamers, period."
With YouTube Gaming, Hike hopes game videos will be more discoverable, and he wants streamers to become true, recognized entertainers.
"There's a certain taboo that comes with being a gamer as an entertainer," he says. "I was in the military, I was a programmer, I've had a lot of different careers. I'm not too young. And there's a certain taboo that comes with gaming that people go, 'Oh, you're a gamer. You have the easiest job in the world.' And that's not really true."
Not everyone thinks that gaming for a living is easy business -- the economics of eSportsalone make it clear that there's serious talent and money in watching other people play games. With YouTube Gaming, it looks like Google is cashing in its talent and following that money.
Microsoft curbs sign-ups for Xbox One previews
Xbox Preview Programs have long been popular. They're easy ways to get sneak peeks at features that won't reach the masses for weeks, if not longer. Unfortunately, though, they're now proving to be too popular -- Microsoft is warning that it's "slowing" the number of people it lets into the Xbox One Preview Program now that it's "near-capacity." The tech giant needs to "optimize" its pre-release user base for testing, according to a forum note. The timing of this move isn't all that surprising, mind you. This year represents the first time that Microsoft will overhaul the Xbox One interface, rolling in big features like backwards compatibility and the Cortana voice assistant. It's only logical that gamers would want an early look at these upgrades, especially when this portal could stick around for a good, long while.
Microsoft limiting access to Xbox One Preview Program
It’s not going to be easy getting invited to Xbox One’s Preview Program in the future. Not like how it is now.
Microsoft has revealed that the number of users already part of the Xbox One Preview Program is very good. So much so that it has reached a “near-capacity level”.
Microsoft as a result will be making it more difficult for new users to get in. “Due to a tremendous response from our fans, the Xbox Preview program has reached a near-capacity level,” said a Microsoft representative – as reported by Gamespot.
“With that in mind, we are slowing the number of new people we are accepting to optimize for testing. We are thankful for the amount of interest we’ve received to date and look forward to sharing more details on preview opportunities soon.”
Members of the Preview Program get to try out the latest Xbox One features with early-access to firmware updates. More recently, with the announcement of the Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility, members were also able to play Xbox 360 games first as Microsoft optimises them for the rest of us.
In the coming weeks, the company will deploy the first UI overhaul, which is based on Windows 10 and is said to be much faster. That too will come first to the Preview Program before going live.
You may already have access to Black Ops 3 beta on PC without pre-ordering
Treyarch and Activision have prepared a nice surprise for devoted Call of Duty fans on PC.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta codes are currently being sent to Xbox One users, albeit with a few hiccups. On PC however, it’s all smooth sailing.
If you’ve pre-purchased the game on PC through Steam, you can find the beta under your ‘Games’ tab and download it from there. The most interesting surprise though is that even if you didn’t pre-order, you will still get access.
If you own Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, or Black Ops 2 on Steam, you automatically have access. Just head over to your games list and check for the beta. I own Ghosts and Black Ops 2 and I can see it.
The beta will likely be open to everyone in the final day or two, the same way it did on PlayStation 4. Which is great news because the game is a lot of fun.
Monday, August 31 is when the beta ends, unless Treyarch decides to extend it for another day.
