BioWare’s Dragon Age Inquisition: Trespasser Sets Stage For Dragon Age 4

Hints have been dropped by BioWare regarding Dragon Age 4 in the final DLC

Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:EA) has been very successful with BioWare’s "Dragon Age" franchise as the first game, as well as the third game, in the series have been a huge success. "Dragon Age: Inquisition" follows the story of the Inquisitor, who the player controls and also is incharge of, closing the rift that has been opened because of an act of evil. BioWare has excited the fans previously by releasing a DLC and further improving on the story of the game, along with adding new features.

The final DLC for the game has been termed as "Trespasser". It will be an epilogue of sorts, that would bring closure to the journey of the entire movement formed previously to deal with the DarkSpawn army, and in turn close the rifts that have been opened throughout the Kingdom of Feraldan and Orlais.

For the ones who have not completed the game, there are spoilers ahead so read at your own discretion.

Regardless of the choices made while playing the Trespasser DLC, the story ends as the Inquisitor is planning with a different bunch of allies to head down and track the elf that was responsible for the entire mess the Kingdom was in.

The group that is formed comes from the outskirts of Fereldan and Orlais, which are the two main regions in the Dragon Age world, and the story heavily focuses on them. In Trespasser, the final shot which can be seen is when the Inquisitor places his knife firmly in the map region where Tevinter Imperium lies. The area has not been explored in the game as much, but talked about a lot. So there are many chances where the Inquisitor may lead his allies to the said region in order to look for Solas.

During the end of credits of Dragon Age: Inquisition’s Trespasser DLC, Solas appears briefly and reveals his own true identity, which is the Dread Wolf. Previously a hint of this was shown during the end credits of the original Dragon Age: Inquisition, when Solas has a conversation with Flemmeth and kills her later on. This signifies that Solas does have a major part to play in the lore as of yet, and BioWare will expand upon it with "Dragon Age 4".

So far, no official statement has been given by Bioware or EA, but as the time progresses, it will be seen how the story plays out in the Dragon Age lore.

Trespasser DLC released on September 8, 2015 and is available on Sony Corp.’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4, Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One and Windows PC.

Electronic Arts Inc. Star Wars Battlefront Limited Edition Sony PS4 Available For Pre-Order

The console is available to pre-order at Gamestop and Amazon

A while back, a limited edition Sony Corp.’s (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4 bundle was announced for the upcoming game by Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:EA) Star Wars Battlefront. If you are one of those people who have been waiting for the pre-order date of the upcoming bundle and are living in the US, we have some good news for you.

The limited edition Star Wars: Battlefront PlayStation 4 bundle is now up for pre-order at Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) and GameStop.com Inc. (NYSE:GME). While you can go over to the said stores and pre-order the console right now ahead of its release, it is interesting to note that the console is available at a price of $449.99 rather than the usual $399.99 price tag on all console bundles.

But if it makes up for anything, the limited edition Star Wars Battlefront PlayStation 4 bundle is going to include a special edition console with custom-painted design both on the console and the controller that will be packaged together. Along with that, the bundle is going to include the Deluxe Edition of Star Wars Battlefront and also comes with a download voucher which entitles you to four other games from the Star Wars universe, which are Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter and Star Wars: Jedi StarFighter.

One more fine detail that you might have missed out is that the console in the bundle is going to be the standard 500GB hard drive edition and is not going to feature a 1TB hard drive. Also, judging by the release of recent special edition bundles such as Konami Corp.’s (OTCMKTS:KNMCY) Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain PlayStation 4 bundle, the Star Wars PS4 bundle is going to feature the redesigned CUH-1200 series console which is lighter and uses less power. It also has physical buttons instead of the usual capacitive touch buttons we had seen so far in earlier consoles.

If you are not interested in the limited edition console, then both Amazon and GameStop have a listing for the standard black console and controller along with the copy of the game. This bundle retails for $399.99 and has exactly the same contents as the limited edition minus the custom-paint design.

You can pre-order the $449.99 bundle here or here and if you are interested in the $399.99 bundle, you can head on to here or here.

Considering the contents on both of these bundles and also the fact that the digital deluxe edition of Star Wars: Battlefront alone is going to set you back $79.99, we think that this bundle is something you should pick up if you have been waiting to get the PS4.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Are you going to pre-order these bundles? Let us know in the comments below.

Here’s Why Sony PlayStation 4 Is The King Of Multiplatform Titles

Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One fans love to boast that their console has the better lineup of exclusives than Sony Corp.’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4 (PS4), but the latter already has an ace up its sleeve. The PS4 has an edge over the Xbox One simply due to its dominance on multiplatform titles.

A glance at VGChartz will tell you that most multiplatform games have done well on the PS4 compared to the Xbox One. Grand Theft Auto V, Batman: Arkham Knight, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt all sold better on PS4 than its rival platform. One does need to realize that multiplatform titles are usually excellent games and despite Xbox One theoretically offering more, Sony’s latest gaming console outsells it left, right, and center.

It was in its first year that PS4 sales grew on the strength of AAA multiplatform titles and never dropped. The list of exclusives on Sony’s platform grows slowly; it is hardly close to what Xbox One offers, which shows that most gamers prefer PS4 mostly because of its history. As the original PlayStation celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, gamers realize that Sony has established a firm ground in console gaming. Two decades of greatness is enough for gamers to put their faith in Sony’s platform. The design choices on PS4 are quite stylish and the sleek console looks great in any media center. Primarily, it has been designed for games, and the other entertainment features come next. The Xbox One is the jack of all trades and that was its original selling point, but gamers didn’t care.

Since the brand identity has been established, gamers have flocked to PS4, and have made it their primary choice for multiplatform titles.

Sony Corporation PlayStation celebrates 20th anniversary in style

20 years and the PlayStation is still going strong; the anniversary allows fans to get plenty of free giveaways

Sony Corporation’s (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation has been a revolutionary series by any stretch of imagination, and the console series is now firmly part of video gaming lore and legend. The consoles' latest installment, PlayStation 4, has been a massive hit and it would be safe to say it is the preferred console for many in the gaming community.

The console was first launched in 1995 in the North American market, and since then it has held a firm grip at the top of the pile. The first installment of the franchise was a massive success and gave us some instant classics such as the Syphon Filter series. Who would have thought at the time that the PlayStation would have such an impact on the world of video gaming?

The console brought forth a new era of gaming and was a massive success in the gaming world. The PlayStation 2 was one of a kind, being the first instance where players could actually experience next-gen gaming, and played a major part in the increase in popularity for gaming consoles. The console which was released at the turn of the millennium was a massive success, so much so that Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox could not compete with it, failing to take a sizeable market share when it was released a year later.

This trend was set to continue, although to Microsoft's credit, the PlayStation 3 had a very close competitor in the Xbox 360. This was the start of the franchise war where both consoles went head to head with each other, in a battle of epic proportions. It is debatable though which console held the top position in this period, although it was a very close battle with both consoles churning out brilliant games at regular intervals.

The latest installment of PlayStation is again beating Xbox One by a mile if sales data are to be believed. The games keep coming thick and fast and if first impressions are something to go by, the success of the PlayStation 4 is set to continue.

This anniversary, fans have something to rejoice as there is a mega anniversary sales, where gamers can stock up on their favorite titles and gain a lot of free goodies. For the full list you can check out this link.

Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Xbox One Turns 1 In Japan With A Not-So-Impressive Performance

The recently released Xbox One sales numbers point toward an unimpressive show in the region

Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One was launched in Japan on September 4, 2014. Last week, Microsoft Japan acknowledged the console’s one-year birthday in the region by announcing on its official Twitter account: “Today, it’s exactly one year since the launch of the Xbox One in Japan! Thank you for your future support!!”

While the Xbox One has been coming up with good exclusives and better value for gamers, Sony Corp.’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4 remains this generation’s clear winner. After a year in Japan, Xbox One’s sales performance does not paint a pretty picture.

It is common knowledge that the Xbox console has not been popular in Japanese territories and that the previous-generation Xbox 360 did not perform very well during its run. However, if the recent data from MediaCreate (via DualShockers) is anything to go by, the Xbox One has reached a new low, selling only 54,813 units in the entire year. Apart from the few unusual spikes, excluding initial ones made by the console around its launch in the country, the sales have been downright appalling, further supporting the notion that the product has failed in the first year of its sale.

It may be a popular opinion that the Japanese do not prefer buying foreign products; however, it can’t be farther from the truth. They like buying products that are considered as a status symbol, or in other words, “cool.” While the root cause of Xbox One’s failure cannot be pinpointed to anything specific, it looks like the marketing strategy used by Microsoft is not working in the Japanese market.

But all is not lost. The company is still working to attract more customers in the region. It is focusing on maintaining relationships with developers in Japan and in the process has managed to bag some big exclusives as well.

Will exclusives like Scalebound help the console to make a comeback in Japan? Only time will tell. For now, we wish the Xbox One happy first birthday in Japan and hope that the second one turns out to be better.

Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Xbox One Is An Extension Of Windows, Says Chris Capossela

EVP and Chief Marketing Officer Chris Capossela talks about Windows 10 and Xbox One during Citi Global Technology Conference 2015

Following Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows 10 launch on July 29, 75 million devices in 192 countries are now running the OS already. Microsoft aims to install Windows 10 in one billion devices within the next two years. The figure includes the OS for Xbox One as well, which runs its own varied version of Windows 10.

Recently, at Citi Global Technology Conference 2015, Chris Capossela, EVP and chief marketing officer of Microsoft, mentioned how the Xbox One is “literally a Windows Device.” The entire conference conversation can be read here, but the key points regarding Windows 10 and Xbox One are mentioned below.

Mr. Capossela said that Microsoft aims to showcase the success of the new OS through the number of devices that run the OS and overwhelming customer satisfaction. He further stated that Microsoft does care about profit, revenue and shares, but that is achieved when the end consumers are using its products, and are happy with them.

He added that the new update for Xbox One will make it run on Windows, and that adds to the list of active Windows devices that will run the OS. “Xboxes today run Windows, and so every time we sell an Xbox we’re actually creating a Windows active device that hopefully people love it, it’s their gaming device, in their living room. It is not a separate animal. It is literately a Windows device,” he said.

Microsoft has finally understood the importance of gaming, and what it means to people. The Xbox One to Windows 10 streaming feature backs up what Microsoft aims to achieve, and how it wants to make the end users happy by meeting their expectations. Microsoft has lined up a number of exclusives for Xbox One, and the company seems to be hitting all the right notes to improve Xbox One, which was not considered a great device when it first released back in 2013. It remains to be seen how the update plays out for everyone, since only Preview members will get their hands on it initially.

Form fragile alliances and work together in modes like Hunt the Beast, where one volunteer is temporarily transformed into a faster, stronger, beastly character who must escape relentless pursuers. Freemode Events also take the shape of insane stunt challenges, such as popping the longest wheelie, catching the most air in a land vehicle, or performing the most near misses in a vehicle without crashing.

Also included with next week's update are two brand new Adversary Modes. First, Hunting Pack: you’re part of a team tasked to deliver a priority vehicle rigged to explode if it drops below a minimum speed, while your opponents race, ram and batter to take it down. Or try Cross the Line, where heavily-armed squads face off across a neutral zone – with the goal of having all team members strategically penetrate their opponents territory to claim victory. The Freemode Events Update also brings the Rockstar Editor to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with new features (also being added for current PC users as well) such as an ambient audio and sound effects library, Snapmatic integration, Director Mode updates and more.

Drop Zone Mode Revealed For Electronic Arts Inc. Star Wars: Battlefront

A new multiplayer mode has been revealed for the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront

Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:EA) announced a new mode for its highly anticipated game, "Star Wars: Battlefront," today. The new multiplayer map called “Drop Zone” focuses around capturing pods falling down from the sky. It involves two teams and both will have to be on the look-out for incoming pods and initiate a claim process, while also defending the pod from being captured by the opposing force. It’s basically the Empire versus the Rebels, in tight eight-on-eight matches, in locations such as Sullust, Hoth, Endor, Tatooine and others.

The mode requires players to capture five pods or control the majority to win during the ten minute match. If there is a draw and no side is able to take the advantage, then another pod will be sent to break the deadlock. The developers of the game – DICE, wanted to design the mode around constant movement and discourage camping. Orbital strikes can pin-point a player’s location, so there is a risk of dying if you camp at one place for too long. Captured pods will grant players “Power Pickups.” There is a brief time until the pod opens up, while another pod is landing somewhere in the map, and there is also a risk of being struck down by another player if you decide to stay in one place too long.

The mode is the complete opposite of the recently revealed “Squadron” Mode," which focuses on aerial dog fights. The developer has also hinted at the use of droids for strategy. For example, Turrets can be used to ward off incoming enemies or a Viper Droid that highlights enemy movement on the map can also be used.

Star Wars: Battlefront is the next installment in the popular Star Wars Battlefront series. A Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4 Limited Edition was announced to celebrate the launch of the game. It is scheduled to release on November 17, for all platforms.

Sony PlayStation 20th Anniversary Sale Offers Big Titles For All PlayStation Platforms On Discount

There are a total of 121 titles available for all generations of Sony platforms, but the lack of AAA titles takes off some of the luster

Sony Corp.’s (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation has been the pinnacle of the gaming universe with the different generations of the hardware having become the “to go” device for all things gaming.

A while back, Sony announced a special limited edition and controller to mark the 20th anniversary of the company's entrance into gaming and then announced some more special accessories for the console.

The 20th anniversary initiative continues as Sony recently updated its PlayStation Store with new games available at big discounts as part of the “PlayStation 20th Anniversary Sale.” As of right now, the sale is only available to customers in North America.

It is interesting to note that there are not many titles available on discount for the current generation PlayStation 4. Some of the titles on sale include Activision Blizzard Inc.’s (NASDAQ:ATVI) Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls and Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. We also have Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light Redux for the PS4 at an awesome price of $7.5 each.

The bulk of the games that are included in the sale however, are for the PlayStation 3 which is unsurprising since Sony is aiming to retaining its player base and also some revenue with Sony’s older generation system. The sale includes Electronic Arts Inc.’s (NASDAQ:EA) Burnout Paradise Ultimate Edition which is available for just $6 for the PlayStation 3. The game is one of the best party games on the platform and is a must-have for people who are interested in having fun with innovative challenges for a party of up to eight players.

The sale also includes Max Payne 3: The Complete Edition and Lara Croft and the Guardian of the Light both of which are available for $6. The very popular Ni No Koni: The Wrath of the White Witch is also available for $6. This is a great chance for gamers who have not played the game up till now and the discount does not get any better than this.

You can check out the full sale along with prices at the USA PlayStation Store Page. While the sale has a large number of titles available on discounts, the lack of AAA titles is disappointing and we hope that Sony adds popular titles in future.

Which of the games are you planning to buy from the sale? Let us know in the comments below.

Sony PS3 “Retarded The Industry Significantly” Says Electronic Arts Frostbite Dev

Some of the renowned industry names also pitched in their ideas on the matter

Sony Corp.’s (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 3 has been one of the most advanced and complex gaming consoles since the advent of console gaming, and has a lot of potential due to very powerful and sophisticated CELL CPU, along with very complex architecture overall. But even though it has so much potential, according to the standards of development used today, it remains a very tough challenge to code for the PlayStation 3.

Recently, a few developers shared their views on the PlayStation 3 and the state of coding on the gaming console. Electronic Arts Inc.’s (NASDAQ:EA) Frostbite’s Director Stefan Boberg tweeted that the CELL “retarded the industry significantly” and that it was about complexity in “all the wrong places”. Leonard Ritter also tweeted that he has been a big fan of the CELL architecture but the marketing “left much to be desired”. Facebook’s (NASDAQ:FB) Oculus VR coder Tom Forsyth said in response that the idea that was put forward with the marketing was “totally idiotic” and it “deserved what it got”.

While all of this is actually true and that the initial marketing from Sony about the CELL architecture was not up to the mark, it is still worth noting that the company still managed to make a comeback with its shortcomings. It sold more than 80 million units over the course of the last generation, which ended with the launch of the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One in 2013.

It is also important to remember the fact that despite the difficulties faced by the developers in creating content for the PlayStation 3, the console still managed to give us beautiful and great games such as Naughty Dog’s "Uncharted" and "The Last of Us" and Santa Monica’s "God of War 3". Many other games that were made exclusively for the PlayStation 3 were a prime example of the console's potential, much of which was left untapped unfortunately. This is most obvious in third party titles, where developers were not able to make use of the power of the console and games ended up being of the same performance as their Xbox 360 version, despite the fact that the PlayStation 3 was much more powerful.

Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Xbox Live Deals With Gold For Xbox One And Xbox 360 For This Week Revealed

Electronic Arts Inc. and Ubisoft dominate this week’s Deals with Gold

Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Deals with Gold program begins with yet another week of great discounts for its Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles. As we already know, Deals with Gold is part of Microsoft’s wider plan to offer more value and discounts for its fans who intend to updated their gaming library.

This week, the big highlights from the sale include Take-Two Interactive Software Inc.’s (NASDAQ:TTWO) 2k Games’ Evolve, which is available at half off the retail price. This discount applies to both, the Standard, and Digital Deluxe Edition, which incidentally arrived after the game’s free weekend run. Those who played the game during the free weekend have a chance to snag it at half price, if they planned to make the purchase after the free weekend.

Other than that, we have Ubisoft Entertainment SA’s (OTCMKTS:UBSFY) Assassin’s Creed Unity, and Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, both of, which are also available at a 50% discount. We also have Electronic Arts Inc.’s (NASDAQ:EA) Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline available at half the retail price. Th Premium edition of Battlefield bundle is also available at a 50% price cut, for fans that do not enjoy Standard edition.

On Xbox 360, we have the Assassin’s Creed series available at a whopping 75% discount. Unfortunately, there are not many games in the program for this week and the rest of Xbox 360 category consists of add-on content for Battlefield 4 and Metro Last Light.

Except for Battlefield Hardline Ultimate Edition, all games on Xbox One discount list are available to both, Xbox Live Gold and Silver members. These games are also available to free members at discounted prices, but the discount on Xbox 360 games is only available to users with an active Xbox Live Gold Membership.

These deals will run through September 14, and that is when the new set of deals for Xbox gamers is also expected to release. The complete discount list can be checked here at Major Nelson’s Blog.

Sony Corp.’s (SNE) Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection PS4 Bundle Releases This October

The Bundle will release this October with a free copy of the game

Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is one of the big releases for Sony Corp’s (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4 this year. This collection includes the three main games of the well-known, critically acclaimed series, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

This collection is a great buy for those who want to re-live all those moments from Nathan Drake’s adventure all over again while enjoying remastered visuals and textures to bring the game in line with the current generation standards. It is also the perfect buy for new players to catch up on the story of Nathan Drake to gear up for the next game in the series, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which is slated for a March 2016 release. And now for those who have been waiting on picking up a PlayStation 4, we have some great news.

Sony Computer Entertainment America’s Vice President of Platforms Marketing, John Koller, has just announced at the official PlayStation Blog that they are releasing an exclusive Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection console bundle alongside the game’s official release. While this bundle does not have a specially skinned console, it has a copy of the game alongside a standard 500 Gigabyte PlayStation 4 console in black color.

The 500GB space is a bit surprising, considering the fact that the 1TB PlayStation 4 console is already available in the European markets and it is becoming more of a standard since most of PlayStation 4 games take somewhere between 30-50GB of space. And some go even further than the mark due to updates and additional content. With that being said, the console will retail for the price of $399.99, which is a pretty good bargain for the console and the game combined.

While nothing has been conformed as of yet, it is possible that the bundle will sport a CUH-1200 series PlayStation 4 console, which is the latest redesigned hardware version of the console and consumes less power and is lighter from previous 1,100 and 1,000 models.

The console bundle will be released alongside the game when it releases this October 9 exclusively for the PlayStation 4.

Rise Of The Tomb Raider To Remain Single Player: Devs

Square Enix has pulled back the multiplayer option from Rise of the Tomb Raider

The developers at Crystal Dynamics did an amazing job when they brought back Tomb Raider to different platforms, with revamped graphics and gameplay, and revived the Tomb Raider franchise fanbase. After the first Tomb Raider became a massive hit when it released back in 2013, the developers did not stop there, and announced a sequel for the game during E3 2015.

The second installment titled "Rise of the Tomb Raider" is well underway to release on schedule, and Square Enix (OTCMKTS:SQNXF) has been releasing new information and details regarding the game every chance it gets, building up more and more hype as the release date draws closer.

The first Tomb Raider was a great overall experience for the fans, but like many games, it wasn’t without flaws. Multiplayer was one of the major issues that fans complained about. It was mainly because it did not seem like a part of the main game and lacked a lot of features from the main campaign. This lead to the disappointment amongst fans and they started requesting the developers on a number of public forums to either improve the multiplayer feature so that it felt like a part of the game, or to completely remove it.

Crystal Dynamics has listened to its fans - in a manner of speaking - and has decided to completely remove the multiplayer option from the game. In the September issue of Official Xbox Magazine, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics revealed that they will remove the multiplayer feature from the game, and shift focus on the single player campaign.

Removing multiplayer completely may not be the best decision for Square Enix, as it will in one way or the other affect its fan base. There are still a few people that enjoy the multiplayer option. This decision may also affect the games standing in regard to other games that Rise of the Tomb Raider was compared to, such as Fallout 4 and Uncharted 4.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is due to release on November 10, 2015 in the North America region and November 13, 2015 for the users in UK, and will be exclusive to Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One and Xbox 360. Users of Sony Corporation’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4 and Windows PC will get to try the game when it releases a year later in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Watch This League of Legends Team Pull Off a Miraculous Run

League of Legends team Cloud9 might have just pulled off one of the most incredible cinderella stories.

At the end of the North American Summer Split, they were 7th in the standings. Seventh out of 10 teams. It was an abrupt fall from grace. In the Spring Split, they finished second in the standings--and now, they were trying desperately to avoid being relegated to the amateur league.

Things got so out of hand that they pulled one of their players, Hai Lam, out of retirement to revamp the lineup. The caveat? He wouldn't be playing in the same position. He'd have to learn a completely new role in the game.

The decision was met with skepticism, but with Hai's hefty competitive experience and leadership skills, Cloud9 managed to avoid relegations and secure their spot without being demoted to the amateur league.

Around the same time, the League of Legends World Championships was coming up and Cloud9's last chance of qualifying for it was to run the gauntlet.

The gauntlet is a last ditch effort for teams to qualify to play on the international stage, where the best teams around the world fight for the number one title.

There are three rounds in total and the system favors teams that performed well throughout the regular season by putting them at the end of the bracket--but it also gives teams that didn't perform in the regular season one last chance.

Cloud9 was seeded as Team 4, which meant they would have the longest run in the gauntlet. Not only would they have to play all three rounds against teams that were ahead of them all season, they would have to play three Best of 5s. A potential 15 games total in the span of three days.

In the first round, they faced off against Team 3--Gravity, who finished 4th in the Summer Split. And to nobody's surprise, Cloud9 lost the first two games.

Things were looking grim for Cloud9. Gravity only needed one more game to win to move on to the next round of the gauntlet.

But somewhere in the third game, a spark was lit--and Cloud9 would go on to win three consecutive games in a row, pulling off an incredible reverse sweep against the heavy favorites in the match-up.

And as if that wasn't enough, Cloud9 managed to keep fans on their toes the following day. In the second round of the gauntlet, they were put up against Team 2--Team Impulse, who were 3rd in the Summer Split standings.

As if history were about to repeat itself, Cloud9 would lose the first two games again. Fans on Twitter joked about another incoming reverse sweep but the prospects looked grim. Team Impulse had momentum on their side, and Cloud9 would only have to lose one more game.

Because somehow, they pulled it off.

Cloud9 managed to, once again, win three consecutive games in a row, pulling off a second reverse sweep.

With two series under their belt, Cloud9 secured themselves a spot in the final round of the gauntlet. The team would have to triumph over Team 1--or Team Liquid, a team that had all the right cards. A team with highly skilled and mechanically gifted players. A team that was touted as one of the strongest teams in North America.
Sure, Cloud9 might've been able to capitalize off the mistakes of other teams like Gravity and Impulse. But this was Team Liquid, a team that managed to nab first in the Summer Season standings.
The odds were stacked against Cloud9. While Team Liquid's goal for the Summer Season was to win the whole thing and head to World Championships, Cloud9's goal for the Summer Season was to avoid being relegated to an amateur league.
But against all expectations--and against all odds, Cloud9 won. And no, there wasn't a reverse sweep this time around.
Cloud9 took the first game, lost the second game, and came back with a vengeance in the third and fourth games to close out the series 3-1. It turned out

A look ahead to the League of Legends 2015 World Championship

The stage is set: 16 teams and 80 players (96 if including their mandatory substitutes). With the Chinese and Korean regionals as well as the second International Wild Card Qualifiers concluded, we know the general shape and form of the upcoming League of Legends 2015 World Championship.

It may actually be the most competitive season yet—at least since 2012. What used to be a foregone conclusion, that the top Korean team is all but guaranteed to come out with the title, is now heavily in dispute. Chinese teams LGD and Edward Gaming hotly contest the seemingly traditional esports dominance of their northern neighbors, and have a lot to back their opinion up. A lot, that is, in terms of raw funding: finally, after a year and an entire competitive season, the shadowy billionaires behind China's mass 2014 shopping spree of Korean powerhouse talents seek to reap the fruits of their harvest.
Skill check

The most alarming thing at Worlds this year: the best team might not actually have a #1 groups seed China's Edward Gaming has been a ruthless force all year, holding sway over the LoL Pro League circuit and winning the Mid-Season Invitational over reigning Korean champions SKT T1. Yet, despite their accomplishments, they stumbled at the finish line: China's #1 Groups seed fell into LGD's lap instead.

While LGD's good (their carries in GODV—formerly Weiless—and Imp are the near-undisputed best of their respective roles) they weren't nearly as dominant as EDG through most of the year. There's plenty of factors relevant to LGD's surprise ascendancy, of course: patch changes, multi-week preparations specifically tailored against EDG, among others. But it was no surprise to anybody that EDG swiftly recovered and grabbed the #2 seed in the regional gauntlet soon after.

That means disaster for some other region's top team—a potential upset before the group stage's even halfway complete. With China's de jure top team holding a "safe" seed, their de facto best is lurking in the shadows like a bomb waiting to go off. If placed in SKT T1's group, for example, it is not outside the realm of possibility that Faker and company actually fail to reach playoffs, sniped out of the starting gates by a combination of EDG's terrifying might and just one unlucky addition to their group. After all, both Taiwanese teams are in EDG's seeding group as well, along with Origen from Europe—and the group stage games are the most volatile by far.

Of course, the odds of that are (to Korea's relief) under 25%. Both EDG needs to land in SKT T1's doorsteps, along with either or both ahq E-Sports Club and Origen. The odds are much greater that either Fnatic or Counter Logic Gaming gets to face the Chinese challenge instead—an exhausting prospect for Fnatic, whose early-game weaknesses were revealed during the EU LCS grand finals, and an almost cruel one for Counter Logic Gaming. Just when they've finally shaken off a multi-year curse.
Redemption

Not that CLG should mind if they flub out vs EDG or a similarly strong team, as just making it this far is cause for celebration among the team and its stalwart fans. And they certainly had to be stalwarts as they were disappointed for years at a time by the team's rough results and tense internal dynamics. It took a radical roster renovation, preserving only the bottom lane Rush Hour duo of Aphromoo and Doublelift, to finally break themselves free of their old bad habits. Mid and jungle are much more likely to cooperate these days, top lane's much less often a sacrificial lamb, and Doublelift actually sticks to teamfights instead of splitpushing at inconvenient moments! That's a radical departure of a general team play style that's haunted them through the other times they've overhauled their rosters—finally, it seems, the team's tired of losing.

China's Invictus Gaming, the number three seed, has been similarly cursed. Once the only team that could've stood up to World Elite in their mutual primes, both they and Team WE have suffered a bout of misfortune in recent years, struggling to maintain relevance in the face of ambitious newcomers. IG's also an unfortunate example of the limitations inherent in international recruitment, as it took a long time for KaKAO and Rookie to gel with their teammates. The fact that KaKAO was rumored for most of the year to treat his stint in China as something of a vacation or retirement certainly didn't help, with his temperamental play style seemingly less effective than it was back home in the gaming studios of Seoul.

But then Worlds neared, and KaKAO woke up. Third-favored team Qiao Gu Reapers, they of the silver and purple hair, were caught off-guard by iG's sudden resurgence in the regional gauntlet. The laughing jester of the jungle is back yet again to torment solo laners and troll the world's best carries—exactly where he belongs.

An education

Meanwhile, as usual, teams are begging and praying to be lined up with the international wild card teams—a polar contrast with the trepidation of an EDG matchup. And to be fair, though the IWCQ circuit was much livelier than in prior years (Turkey's defeat at the hands of both Australia's Chiefs and Southeast Asia's Bangkok Titans was largely unexpected), the quality of play from either of the qualifiers was lower than you'd get from most of the premier circuits.

There is little reason to expect a repeat of Alliance vs Kabum!, like in 2014. As has been addressed by former members of the team, their problems last year stemmed from a combination of poor performance, resistance to coaching, and sheer arrogance—a situation that their defeat to last year's Brazilian representatives have done plenty to alleviate, at least for everybody else that want a chance at what Alliance got last time. Community and team analysts were keeping their eyes on the wild cards this year to a greater extent than any prior—largely with skepticism, but now and again an interesting play or strong matchup managed to impress even the most cynical.

That said, they're still hoping for their own representatives to get slotted in with the Bangkok Titans. Southeast Asia's best was very literally their worst just a couple years ago—BKT was among the original Garena Premier League teams, all the way back to the prime of the Taipei Assassins, and spent two years of their existence at the very bottom of the standings. Their rise to the top is both a testament at their organization and players' tenacity in the face of overwhelming odds and criticism... and also, tragically, a testament of how much weaker the Southeast Asian circuit's gotten since the Taiwanese teams departed with all of the glory and Worlds seeds.

But BKT's revival at least led to mid laner G4 and AD carry Lloyd gaining some hard-earned international respect. And their hard fight through the immensely competitive first qualifiers earned back their beleaguered region some of that lost prestige. Even without the Taiwanese teams clogging up the top of the GPL brackets, they were still more experienced and more developed than fellow Wild Card regions.

Brazil's PaiN Gaming struggled far less in comparison, with almost no fanfare or drama to their clean and decisive dismantling of Latin America's Kaos Latin Gamers. The CBLoL competitive circuit may be one of the best-developed non-premier competitive circuits in the world, with only Turkey's and Southeast Asia's as peers, and it was aptly demonstrated in their takeover of the second qualifiers. In fact, Brazil has a proud history of unexpected competitiveness: it was at IEM Sao Paulo that Korea dropped their first-ever international game (though Incredible Miracle still won the 2012 tournament), and it was through Kabum that Europe's elites were embarrassed just last year.

Though they can't hardly hope to actually win an event against the better-developed regions, they can earnestly attempt to spoil the results. And in the process, take away a little something from the teams they face—lessons in what is possible at the razor's edge of competitive League of Legends, facing down pressures and strategies that even their best hometown rivals can't quite manage to pull off.

In doing so, a region grows. An entire country of players learn to be better, to be more dangerous. Even if China and Korea are like gods unto their meager mortals... that's only this year. That's only for now. And even Faker didn't stay on top forever.

This year's the most competitive Worlds that League of Legends has ever seen. Next year might very well leave it in the dust.

Destiny: The Taken King Trophies Go Live On Sony PS4; No Weekly/Nightfall Strikes This Week

Bungie adds trophies for Destiny’s upcoming expansion “The Taken King” on PlayStation 4

As Activision Blizzard Inc.’s (NASDAQ:ATVI) Destiny: The Taken King comes closer to its release, the game’s developer, Bungie, and the fans gear up for Year Two, which kicks off today. To prepare the game for the upcoming DLC and mark the start of Year Two, Bungie has recently added trophies for The Taken King on Sony Corp.’s (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4.

Interestingly, the added trophy set does not have any Gold or Platinum level trophies; it is included in the game as an expansion pack and not as a separate game. The set includes trophies that can be earned by completing quests, granting your characters access to the new subclasses. The subclasses are to be introduced with the launch of the new DLC.

The trophies also include quests that will most likely require completion of the in-game missions, available along with two other trophies relating to the new Raid, The King’s Fall. If you have pre-ordered The Taken King, you can go to the trophies section on your PlayStation 4, and select Destiny trophies to make the updated trophy list available for you to check out.

Bungie has also revealed a new trailer for The Taken King which shows Oryx, father of Crota, in all his glory. While it does not show any in-game footage, it welcomes Eris Morn, the mission vendor for The Dark Below DLC, who will mark her return in the upcoming DLC. It also features Mara Sov, the queen of the reef, which makes us hope that the DLC will reveal more of her story and history.

In other news, the game developer recently confirmed that no weekly Nightfall and heroic strikes will be available this week. The upcoming DLC will bring major changes to the game’s system, including changes to the leveling system, the Ghost companion’s voice actor, and the Daily heroic story mission, which will make it an account-level activity rather than the character-level activity it is right now.

Bungie is also removing the actual Nightfall buff from the game that used to boot players out of the activity, once the whole fire team was dead. Instead, the game will restart from the mission’s last checkpoint, just like it used to in the weekly heroic strike. The removal of the weekly heroic strikes means that now there won’t be any guaranteed source of Strange Coins, the currency used to purchase armor and weapons from the weekend trader, Xur. But as we already know, there will be other ways in which one could earn the coins.

While the developer has confirmed that Xur will be accepting the currency only for armor and weapons just like before, it is going to increase drop rates for Strange Coins from other activities in the game, so as to balance the currency supply.

While the absence of Nightfall and weekly heroic strikes this week might be a disappointment for some, the new crucible content to be made available with the massive 2.0 update, launching today, is going to be pretty exciting. Bidness Etc believes the new maps and other content can easily make up for the loss.

Destiny: The Taken King launches on September 15 for Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.

So, what are your thoughts? Are you looking forward to the new content or are you gutted about the lack of the weekly strikes? Let us know in the comments below!

Bungie’s Destiny: Banshee’s Field Test Weapons Coming Sept 9

Mark Noseworthy has revealed some new information on the game and upcoming updates via twitter

Activision Blizzard Inc.’s (NASDAQ:ATVI) Destiny has been in the spotlight for the past few weeks with the upcoming expansion for the game The Taken King set to release in a few days.

While the game is tipped to bring a host of new changes to the game’s system, the changes to our favorite gunsmith, Banshee has been one of the key highlights players are excited about.

With the big 2.0 update coming in today, offering a host of new content from the upcoming expansion to all players regardless of whether they have purchased the DLC or not, people had hoped that they could also start working in the new ways revealed with the Gunsmith and other vendors of the tower.

Turns out, this is not the case and players will have to wait a bit more until they can start earning reputation with the Gunsmith and use his Field Test Weapons. But it won't be much of wait as as the changes to the Gunsmith are going to come only a day later on September 9.

This news came in by way of Bungie’s Mark Noseworthy who revealed on this Twitter account that the new progression system will be available on the announced date. He also added that this will be the “exact date” when players can start earning reputation with him.

This move is made because of the fact that after the new changes that will be made to the Gunsmith, Wednesday is going to be the famous “Arms Day” which will allow players to participate in new challenges that will end up in better weapons rewarded. Along with that, the Gunsmith is also going to provide you with Infusion which will allow the guns you love to harness the power of other guns that you do not use. This will allow a player to use duplicate drops in other ways, instead of dismantling them straight away.

Destiny: The Taken King is set to release on September 15. The game is set to bring major changes to how almost everything works in the game and most of the changes will be implemented today with the big 2.0 patch.

Bungie’s Destiny Loses Lawsuit Against Halo, Destiny Composer; Story Changes Confirmed

Lawsuit documents reveal Bungie made substantial changes to Destiny’s story

Since Bungie launched Destiny last September, some people have been thinking that the story was shallow when compared to the pre-release trailers and promotional material regarding the game. A sample for the game was shared on a since-deleted Reddit thread about how a tester was invited to Bungie to try Destiny before launch. However, he found it different from the released game story. Although Bungie has also remained silent on this issue, rumors were triggered further when Bungie’s lead writer Joseph Staten departed a year before the game was launched.

Recently, Bungie was in a lawsuit against Marty O’Donnell, a long-time former employee who constructed the score for the game and was fired soon after. Mr. O’Donnell won the lawsuit, and was able to obtain $142,500 as a result. The dispute was caused due to a disagreement between Mr. O’Donnell and Activision Blizzard Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI), where Activision wanted to take the entire credit of the score without mentioning Mr. O’Donnell’s name. This led to a long dispute between the two, ultimately resulting in Mr. O’Donnell getting fired from the company and in the game’s launch getting delayed, according to documents published by VentureBeat, as reported by IGN.

Destiny reasons that the lack of story was due to the fact that the story was changed at the last minute during the development process, leading to the delay in the game’s release. Destiny was supposed to release in August 2013 initially, but was eventually launched in September 2014.

While this may not reflect well for Bungie, there remains a lot of hype for the upcoming expansion titled “The Taken King.” One way Bungie can redeem itself is to make sure The Taken King lives up to its fans’ expectations.

Bungie’s Destiny: The Taken King is set to release on September 15, 2015 on Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One, Xbox 360, Sony Corp.’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

Electronic Arts Inc. FIFA 16 Demo Available In New Zealand And Its Surrounding Territories

The highly anticipated new entry into the long running franchise is finally set to release a demo in the coming days

Electronic Arts. Inc.'s (NASDAQ:EA) "FIFA 16" demo is about to be released in the coming days and its a moment that football fans have been waiting for. There is no official release date, but fans in New Zealand and surrounding territories have been able to download the demo, and are reportedly among the first region to be able to do so.

The initial reports are that the demo features marked improvements, and this time around great emphasis is on the actual gameplay. Many fans are reporting that the new gameplay is more focused on individual player skills and the teamwork involved in the match, which gives the feeling of an actual football match. This is a marked improvement on previous installments in the game, where the goal scoring and passing were slightly generic.

In the demo players, gamers will be able to experience FIFA’s new trainer mode. Furthermore they can also play in exhibition and one off matches, similar to the previous installments. The skill games also make an appearance in the demo, with players reporting many new skill challenges and refined gameplay. This is good news for fans who were looking for something new. EA this time around has decided to make a complete football game, and are trying to create a gaming experience worth remembering.

Perhaps the most important feature, and one that will bring about a profound change in the male dominated gaming community, is the appearance of Women National Teams. This is a revolutionary move that will appeal to hordes of female gamers, as its the first time women take center stage in any major sporting title, and arguably in any video game for that matter.

FIFA 16 is set to be released on September 22 on Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360, and for Sony Corporation’s (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

Morana Runestone “The Witcher 3 New Game Plus” Glitch

The Morana Runestone glitch in The Witcher 3 New Game Plus allows players to burn, stun, and freeze enemies

CD Projekt Red (CDPR) released The Witcher 3 New Game Plus last month as the final DLC for the game. Like in every game, there are glitches in this game as well, and while it may seem amusing at times, it becomes annoying for gamers if the game does not play as it is intended.

Previously, a glitch in the game allowed players to kill high-level monsters in an instant without being injured or killed. Turns out, this glitch was not the only one. Another one has surfaced online, and it provides a 100% success rate when it comes to inflicting damage on the enemies.

This glitch works in a relatively simple way; the player needs to attach the Lesser Morana and Morana Runestone to any of the relic swords that Geralt possesses. Some examples of the swords are Carabella, Harvell and Forgotten Vran Sword, as all three contain a slot to place ruins and each has different specialties. The video below shows how to implement the Runestones and inflict damages on humans as well as monsters.

The Witcher 3 is one of the popular role-playing games out there. With the release of 16 free DLC packs and a new Game Plus Mode, fans have been ecstatic to play a game which sees timely updates and improvements by the developers with each release. The game has also been nominated for the best story at the Golden Joystick Awards, and is very likely to win, thanks to its immersive storyline.

With the latest Triss Merigold Romance Tweak and the two upcoming expansions titled Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine, The Witcher 3 is turning out to be a DLC galore for many fans, as they continuously receive free additions to the story.

The Witcher 3 is available on Sony Corp.’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4, Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One, and Windows PC.

Bungie’s Destiny: New Mercy Rule Added To One-Sided Crucible Matches

Senior designer for the Crucible game mode, Andrew Weldon details the new rule

As fans of Activision Blizzard Inc.’s (NASDAQ:ATVI) Destiny gear up for the upcoming update titled Destiny Update 2.0 and the much-hyped expansion pack “The Taken King,” Bungie recently announced yet another change that is going to be made to the game’s crucible competitive multiplayer mode.

The game’s senior designer for the Crucible multiplayer mode, Andrew Weldon, recently talked about the new “Mercy Rule” that will be introduced with Update 2.0, on Bungie.net. What this rule is going to do is, when the difference between the two teams playing in a match gets very large, Shaxx will call off the game and grant victory to the winning team automatically.

Mr. Weldon explains that the matchmaking settings will be changed to “Joining Disabled.” Also, when the Mercy Rule kicks in, the game’s timer will automatically be turned down to 10 seconds from whatever time is remaining, and then the match will end the way it normally ends. After that, the players will get their rewards the usual way and then return to matchmaking.

Mr. Weldon went on to say that the Mercy Rule will be enabled when Update 2.0 releases on September 8. The rule will be enabled for all crucible game modes except Elimination and Trials of Osiris. He also said that the company will listen to feedback from the players and fine tune the Mercy Rule accordingly, as player feedback is what has shaped Destiny up till now.

According to Mr. Weldon, the Mercy rule is being brought in to improve the overall experience for the players, especially for those “caught on the receiving end of a massive blowout.” As for the winning team, it is not forgotten as it has a new Gold Tier medal to chase called “No Mercy.” You can check out a picture of the medal and some more statistics from Bungie on the crucible multiplayer mode at Bungie.net.

Destiny: The Taken King launches on September 15 for Sony Corp.’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One and Xbox 360. What do you think of the new Mercy Rule? Do you think it is fair and provides more balance to the game? Let us know in the comments below!

Batman: Arkham Knight Sony PlayStation 4/Xbox One Gets An Unofficial Price Cut

Amazon reduces the price for Batman: Arkham Knight for a limited time

For the owners of Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One and Sony Corp.’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4, Batman: Arkham Knight has been nothing short of amazing. PC users haven’t had such luck when the game released initially, but the launch of an interim patch has improved the overall gaming experience on PC as well.

Recently, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) started offering a deal that is too good to be turned down by those who have yet to purchase Batman: Arkham Knight. Amazon is offering Batman: Arkham Knight for $44.99 on Xbox One instead of the original price of $59.99. For PlayStation 4 users, the game is available for $41.95 instead of the regular $59.99. This is a really good deal, considering that Batman: Arkham Knight released only a couple of months ago.

As for PC gamers, there have not been any such deals yet. However, on the bright side, the PC version of the game has finally received its interim patch after being pulled away from Steam, bringing about much-needed changes to make the game playable on PC platform. Although some players did not feel any noticeable changes in the gameplay and faced frequent lags, reinstalling the game and applying the patch may solve some common problems being faced by the users.

Furthermore, Warner Bros. recently announced that it would be releasing four different DLC packs for September, each one containing new skins, levels, and bonus content. So far, what we know is that the upcoming DLC pack, Crime Fighter Challenge Pack #1, will include Robin, Nightwing, and Catwoman. Further packs may include a story for Nightwing, Tumbler Batmobile, and more.

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Sets Stage To Release DirectX 12 Games

AMD claims it will be partnering with the majority of DirectX 12 games in the next two years

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) claims that the majority of games utilizing DirectX 12 will be developed using AMD’s technology.

DirectX is a platform that a lot of users and developers require in order to run games and ensure they reach their maximum potential, without suffering any losses in quality. DirectX 12 is the latest version of DirectX that is in development; developers have already realized its potential and claim that it improves the overall performance of games on PC.

NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) does not support ASync Compute completely — something that was seen during the DirectX 12 test of Ashes of the Singularity, the first game that will be running on DirectX 12. This lack of support possibly resulted in developers and publishers turning toward the competitor.

In a post on Reddit, Robert Hallock, head of Global Technical Marketing at AMD, replied to Oxide’s comment that Mantle and AMD chips in the current-gen consoles have started to build trust, in return leading to a strong partnership between the two makers.

Mr. Hallock’s statement mentions that many developers would be partnering with the company to release games, but so far, the only two games that have a confirmed release window are Ashes of the Singularity and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Whether or not other titles are in development using DirectX 12 is unknown at the moment.

What’s surprising about this statement is the fact that NVIDIA holds almost 82% of the GPU market share, and the developers are abandoning their partnership with the leader of the GPU market to support a competitor.

Mr. Hallock’s statement remains to be validated, especially when new games release sometime next year. NVIDIA, meanwhile, still has a chance to prove itself by releasing cards that utilize the full potential of DirectX 12.

Grand Theft Starship: Video Game Mod Brings a Star Destroyer to ‘GTA V’

Not unlike trailer mash-ups and supercuts, there are plenty of video game modifications out there for those who choose to do their gaming on computers. Specifically, Grand Theft Auto has seen some awesome mods that have brought the Iron Man suit to GTA V and the Back to the Future DeLorean time machine to GTA IV.

But few mods bring something as big as this into the video game world. Gamer Justin Lewis (aka “JJxORACLE”) from Arterius Modding has created a mod that lets gamers fly an Imperial Star Destroyer in Grand Theft Auto V. And we’re not talking about a scaled down Star Destroyer. We’re talking about a massive starship cruising over Los Santos.

Here are a couple videos showing off the Star Destroyer in GTA V (via LaughingSquid):

The textures of the Star Wars vehicle aren’t perfect, but considering how massive that vehicle is, there’s only so much time you can spend making it look just like a real Star Destroyer. After all, this is a custom mod, so it’s not going to have graphics as good as the game itself, but being able to fly that massive ship around the city is cool as hell.

If you watch that first video beyond the Star Destroyer footage, you’ll also see that there’s a landspeeder mod that you can download so you can fly around Los Santos a little closer to the ground. For some reason, the video refers to it as a speeder bike, but fans have likely already flamed the video’s creator in the comments for that, so let’s not fly off the handle.

Anyway, if you’re a computer gamer and you want to bring the Imperial Star Destroyer into your next GTA V gaming session, the mod is available to download online from GTA5-mods.com.

Final Fantasy X HD Receives New Updates; New Sony PS4 Patch Announced

A new patch has been released by Square Enix for Final Fantasy X HD for PS4

This year has been really good for old school gamers as most titles have been remastered and bought to life on next-gen consoles such as Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One and Sony Corporation’s (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4. Same has been the case with Square Enix’s (OTCMKTS:SQNXF) Final Fantasy X HD and its sequel as well: Final Fantasy X-2.

Both titles come with new enhanced gameplay and stunning visuals that are set to wow gamers and fans alike. Furthermore, there is a new and completely re-arranged soundtrack for Final Fantasy X HD, which will soothe and enhance players' gaming experience. Final Fantasy X HD for PlayStation 4 came with a few issues that bothered gamers from truly enjoying the game, such as random number generation that was nowhere close to being random and field music getting restarted after the battle had concluded, thus preventing players from enjoying the sheer brilliant music featured in the game. After the release of the newest patch version 1.01 by Square Enix, these issues have been resolved.

The 30MB, version 1.01 patch patch that has released for the game, fixes all the aforementioned glitches that players have been complaining about ever since the game was released for the PlayStation 4, allowing for a better gaming experience. Both Final Fantasy games released last year for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3. The HD versions are basically the revamped versions of the classic games, released internationally with additional content.

The changes that have been highlighted in Final Fantasy X HD include various gameplay tweaks, optional battles against the extra boss Penance and the Dark Aeons, and more freedom when the game begins through the Expert Sphere Grid. The new feature that Final Fantasy X-2 HD introduces includes a new Dressphere, new monster racing mechanic, The Last Story which is a gameplay segment that takes place after the conclusion of the game and new Garment Grids.

Final Fantasy X HD and Final Fantasy X-2 HD are available for download in all regions on PlayStation Vita, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4.

Director Of Activision Blizzard, Inc. Warcraft Movie Reacts To Leaked Teaser

Duncan Jones responds to leaked footage and updates about the films future

Activision Blizzard. Inc.’s (NASDAQ:ATVI) World of Warcraft movie is possibly one of the most awaited movie of all time. The movie which is being anticipated by gamers and fans alike has seemingly got a leaked teaser trailer, which has been making the rounds on the internet. The new Warcraft movie is set to star Travis Fimmel, who is most notable for his work in Spartacus and Vikings. He will be joined by Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga and Paula Patton amongst others. The movie will focus on the early feuds between the Orcs and Humans, and will center on the two factions fighting for survival with each other while the forces of darkness rise to reclaim their lands.

The movie has been a hot topic on the internet as it appears a low quality teaser trailer has been released from somewhere in Romania. The leaked trailer has got fans in frenzy with many praising the design of the Orcish clans and the lush scenery and the War sequences that depict gore and bloodshed.

The footage was initial screened at Comic Con in July. It has since been leaked as a low quality, possibly mobile recorded trailer and is easily available on the internet. The movie is set to be released somewhere around June 2016. The actual trailer is set to be released around November at the BlizzCon, which is stated for November 6-7. The trailer will be a first real look of the highly anticipated game-plus-movie.

This is what Duncan Jones had to say on Twitter (NYSE:TWTR): "I just wish we could show the real thing. :)" In another tweet, Jones further joked, "You don't like it at low res and covered in user ids?!” The director has made a smart move keeping his cards close to his sleeve. This means that the leaked teaser will actually help the hype for the movie and will make fans eager for more. The trailer might have done the movie more good than harm, and placed it in a win-win situation.

Warner Bros Inc. Releases Long Awaited Patch For Batman: Arkham Knight On PC

The long-awaited patch is now finally here for the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight

Time Warner Inc. (NASDAQ:TWX)-owned Warner Bros has finally released the much anticipated patch for Batman: Arkham Knight for Microsoft Corporation's (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows PC. The patch brings a host of new improvements that are intended to make the game playable.

The patch notes detail improvements like “Reduced frame-rate hitches”, “Improved performance on all GPUs” and “Optimizations for system memory and VRAM usage”. You can read the full patch notes here. The patch appeared briefly for download yesterday but was quickly pulled down by the publisher. Those who were fast enough to download tested out the new patch and concluded that it brought much needed performance improvements and finally made the game playable. However, the patch is now online again and customers who own the game can download it. It is worth noting that Batman: Arkham Knight for PC is still not available for purchase, after it was pulled down by Warner Bros.

Batman: Arkham Knight released in June and was one of the most anticipated titles of 2015. Being the next installment in the highly successful Batman: Arkham series, it was destined to be a hit, as fans' demands for the game was high. However, when it launched, PC gamers who pre-ordered the game soon found themselves disappointed by the quality of the game on their platform. The game had inconsistent frame-rates, it was very taxing even on high-end systems, and some game effects were missing. This made the PC version downright unplayable and the Steam Store review section was soon flooded with down-votes and hate-filled texts. The situation was so bad that Warner Bros. Inc. were forced to withdraw the game from sale, which has since then been missing with no word on its re-release. Unlike the console versions, the developer – Rocksteady, outsourced the PC version of the game to a small studio called “Iron Galaxy”, which resulted in the poor quality of the game.

Dark Souls III To Be Darkest Game Of Series

The darkest, most dense game in the Dark Souls franchise teases improved combat and Easter eggs

From Software’s Dark Souls series has become one of the most prominent beasts in the entire gaming community. The entire game is dark, and the ambience allows the player to be immersed in the game and a captivating story waits to be uncovered. It is also one of the most difficult games that frustrates players from time to time while challenging them to make progress in the story.

Dark Souls III is no different and it will be equally dark and deadly as. During PAX Prime 2015, more information was teased regarding the game by From Software’s Global Brand Manager, Mike Chang.

In a video on YouTube, Mike Chang spoke about the upcoming sequel and said that the game will be no different than its predecessor but with an even darker story and the world will be more dense than ever. There is also a probability of older character items returning in the main campaign, along with a few Easter eggs.

Regarding the gameplay and graphics, Mr. Chang mentioned that Sony Corp.’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One have added more horsepower to the game’s development by providing the opportunity to create greater effects in an interconnected world. This will provide a massive sense of immersion for the player as the world is not the largest, but being the densest, one can assume that it will contain a more interactive world.

What makes Dark Souls intriguing for fans is not only the enticing visuals, but also the new brutal combat system From has introduced. It has termed the combat to be the quickest and most brutal in the entire series. The way the combat is described and shown gives it a feel of Bloodborne, but the addition of armor makes the experience more like Dark Souls one.

At PAX Prime, the audience was allowed to experience a battle with Dancer of the Frigid Valley, which further increased the hype of the game due to the fluid combat system. More information will also be made available during the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2015, along with major announcements to be made in October as well.

Dark Souls III is slated for an early 2016 release.

Call Of Duty: Advanced Final DLC Released For PlayStation 4 and PC

Fourth DLC for Call of Duty marks end of exclusivity arrangement between Activision and Microsoft

Activision Blizzard Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI) released the final expansion to Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, on September 3. The first-person shooter game set in a science fiction, military theme is available on all next generation consoles. The final downloadable content (DLC) for the game is titled; Reckoning. Its release marks the end of an exclusivity arrangement between Acivision and Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) which had ensured that all such DLCs were released for Xbox consoles a month before their release for Sony Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation.

The fourth and last DLC pack includes four new multiplayer maps and the conclusion to the Exo Zombies mode. The Reckoning DLC costs $15, though it is also available with the Advanced Warfare Season Pack which costs $50. From the player’s perspective, it makes more sense to buy a season pass for Call of Duty instead of the individual DLCs because the season pass includes much more bonus content, and has a special armor pack. The season pass is available for $50 while the four DLC packs bought individually, costs an extra $10. Players who want to play the final DLC only, can purchase the content separately.

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare’s Reckoning DLC includes four maps; Overload, Quarantine, Fracture, Swarm. The 2014 shooter has received positive reviews from critics and gamers who praise the combat mechanics, coherent story, new mobility options as well as in-depth specialization. The futuristic gadgets in the game have also garnered good feedback and breathe new life into the franchise.

Call of Duty’s next title; Black Ops 3, will be made available in November 2015. This time, Activision has signed an exclusivity deal with Sony so most of the add-on content will be available for PlayStation users, first. This exclusivity arrangement was signed in June, this year.

Konami Corp Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Facing Server Issues

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has been facing server issues since launch

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain released on the first this month and received stellar reviews. Gamers embraced the highly anticipated game with positive reactions. Despite its positive reception, it has had its fair share of problems, mostly server related issues. The issues mainly affected the Forward Operating Base multiplayer base mode.

Konami Corp (OTCMKTS:KNMCY) apologized for the inconvenience and made some changes to the Forward Operating Base as a temporary fix. The number of missions listed in the multiplayer mode was decreased, information regarding “Win/Loss”, “Points”, “Supporting/Supporters” and “Heroism” were disabled in the mission list, and missions listed in the online Combat Deployment menu were decreased. But these changes had little to no effect on the user experience.

Konami has since then pulled down its servers for maintenance and it has been the fourth consecutive day with no access to the online elements of the game. At the time of writing this article, Konami Japan’s website lists all platforms’ server status as “Server is undergoing maintenance.” Such cases are not new and server issue reports are common with such big titles or with games that have strong multiplayer elements.

Electronic Arts’ (NASDAQ:EA) Battlefield 4 and Sony Corporation’s (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4 exclusive racer - Driveclub, are also examples, where players were unable to enjoy an optimal experience at launch. Metal Gear V: The Phantom Pain is the next installment in the long running and highly popular Metal Gear Solid series, so it comes as no surprise that a game this big has met post-launch issues. Konami has not announced when the issues will be resolved.

The bigger portion of the multiplayer – “Metal Gear Online”, will launch in October. That is going increase demand on the servers even more, and Konami must make sure that it sees a stable launch.

Sony Corp. (SNE) PlayStation Network Down As Long Labor Day Weekend Begins

Many users report that the PlayStation Network has been down for hours

Sony Corporation’s (NYSE:SNE) Play Station Network could be in the line of fire, with reports emerging that the PlayStation Network is down again. The PlayStation Network has been reported to be down in many parts of the US. The users have again been left frustrated as there have been several problems while logging in. Many users report that the service has been down for hours.

There have been a number of complaints on social media, with many people expressing their dissatisfaction. It is interesting to note that the official PlayStation Network status page shows that the network is online and running. At this point of time, it is pertinent to add that users might not be experiencing these problems as they affect different regions at different times. It is important to also note that the PlayStation Network has been down before in a similar manner, with many people complaining against the unavailability of service.

The main complaints have been for the online availability of multiplayer games, such as Bungie’s Destiny. Many people have also reported they cannot log in the game and enjoy their gaming hours. The problem started somewhere around yesterday afternoon, if initial reports are to be believed.

The network issues can severely hamper the image of the PlayStation 4, with users again left frustrated by the lack of online gameplay. This is similar to what occurred a few days ago with Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox Live; however, it was a major server failure with servers being down for an indefinite time. It is essential that the PlayStation Network does not emulate the mistakes that were made by Xbox Live.

The PlayStation Network needs to fix this problem as soon as possible; the longer this goes on the more, it will hurt Sony’s credibility and market dominance. The issue at hand is not only going to hurt the user’s confidence in PlayStation services, but it will also tarnish the company's image. The company should resolve this problem or risk losing the popularity of its services.

Sony (SNE) PS4 Sells 1 Million Units In Middle East

Sony’s latest console, PlayStation 4, has managed to move a million consoles in the Gulf states

Sony Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) has revealed that its PlayStation 4 has managed to sell one million units since it was launched in December 2013 in the Middle East. The announcement came via the Twitter account of Shuhei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios at Sony Computer Entertainment America, who congratulated all the fans in the Middle East by re-tweeting an article from IGN Middle East.

The PlayStation 4 was launched at the end of 2013. As of yet, it has sold 25 million units worldwide. The PlayStation 4 is now the fastest selling console of all time and also holds the record for the highest number of units sold in the first 24 hours of launch. It has earned tremendous success and market share, due to which multiplatform games have a system as the lead platform for development.

Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One is relatively slower in saless. The system saw a rough start, but Microsoft has done everything in its power to reverse what it did wrong with the console and has taken steps to revive sales. But even with steps like 50$ price-cut to the most first-party exclusives coming out in Holiday 2015, Xbox One is still lagging in sales. Last official numbers put Xbox One at 10 million units sold-to-retailers, and while Microsoft has not revealed how many systems it has sold, estimates put Xbox One at 12-13 million units sold-to-consumers.

This is almost half of what PlayStation 4 has managed to sell. The Xbox One was released in the Middle East months after the PlayStation 4, and hasn’t had the same kind of momentum in the region. Despite Microsoft’s efforts, the PlayStation 4 holds the lead in global sales.

OUTLAW is all about high stakes, risk versus reward driving and of course, messing with the cops. Smash through the city, creating havoc and getting yourself noticed for all the wrong reasons. Sony PlayStation 4’s Upcoming 3.0 System Update Offers Massive Improvement

The PS4’s upcoming 3.0 system update will bring several new changes to the bestselling console, but one change makes a massive improvement

The next major update on the Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4, 3.0, is coming soon and currently in beta testing. While it will have several useful features, perhaps the biggest one is related to cloud storage. One of the advantages of PlayStation Plus is uploading game saves to Cloud Storage, and it is currently limited to a gigabyte of memory. According to Cinema Blend, the latest update will bump it up to 10 GB.

This is huge because game saves files that grow larger in size. In the previous generation, they were quite small and in fact the PS2 had them saved on 8MB memory cards. The bump in memory for Cloud Saves is great because they can hold more game saves for the PS4 and can be accessed anytime. It is a handy complement to storing them on physical USB pen drives.

Down the line, even 10GB may not be enough as developers push consoles to their limits and games become more demanding. The need for physical and cloud space will continue to increase. Even the 500GB memory that is standard on consoles these days is not enough. New models sporting 1TB hard drives are being released but even that seems small considering how much space each game takes. If you download digitally, then your space requirements become even larger. The best thing about physical discs is that, even though the data is stored on the console, it can be deleted and reinstalled later making hard drive space easy to micromanage.

Other than the increase in Cloud Storage, YouTube streaming is an added bonus, especially with the launch of its gaming service. Social networking improvements have been added in the form of communities and favorite groups. Hopefully Sony uses the data from the beta test and tweaks the 3.0 update to make it more stable when it goes live to public. If you are excited about the changes in 3.0, please let us know in the comments below.
